Joseph Donald Hanson is an Attorney at Legacy Law Group, LLC, helping individuals and families understand estate planning in clear, practical terms. He believes an estate plan is one of the messages a person leaves behind after they are gone: an opportunity to provide direction, reflect important values, and care for the people, charities, ministries, and communities that matter most to them. Joseph considers it a privilege to help clients prepare for the future and bring clarity to those they leave behind.
Joseph was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and began his education at Chippewa Valley Technical College, where he earned an associate degree in paralegal studies. He then worked for about two years as a paralegal at Menard, Inc., primarily assisting with workers’ compensation and personal-injury cases. In that role, he communicated extensively with insurance adjusters and conducted claim investigations. Seeking to develop the abilities God had given him and use them for God’s glory, Joseph decided to continue his education.
Joseph earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology from Minnesota State University Moorhead and then attended Liberty University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, he interned with the Amherst County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. He also was a founding member of The Veritas Initiative at Liberty University School of Law. Joseph joined Legacy Law Group, LLC’s estate-planning practice because of his interest in helping clients better understand their options and communicate their wishes through a well-considered plan.
Joseph lives in Neenah, Wisconsin, and is the youngest of seven siblings. His father, Joel Hanson, a retired art teacher in Chippewa Falls and current elder at River Valley Christian Fellowship, has been a significant example to Joseph of what it means to live with honor and excellence. Outside of work, Joseph enjoys playing the bagpipes, stumbling around on the tennis court, and serving with Fox Valley Bible Chapel. He also volunteers with Storybook Lodge Christian Camp in northern Minnesota, Good News Camp in western Wisconsin, and Aletheia Springs Christian Education Center in southern Virginia.
